3/2 Cooperative Engineering Program Status
3/2 Cooperative Engineering Program Status
The Millersville University Department of Physics has shared a rigorous cooperative engineering program with Penn State University since the early 1970's. In 2004, we added a new component to the 3/2 program; a "4/2" program.
In the 4/2, students finish their degree in physics at Millersville before streamlined admission to the two year master's degree program in the Penn State Graduate School of Engineering Science. Students who met the high standards for the 3/2 program found that they also met the 4/2 standards and began choosing the advanced degree program. Over the past five years we have sent seven student to Penn State, all in the 4/2 program.
As a result to these student choices, the 3/2 program has been put into hiatus. Students who entered in Fall 2009 (‘08 or '07) are still eligible for transfer to Penn State under the 3/2 program, and of course the 4/2 program. Students entering after Fall 2009 will have access only to the 4/2 program, unless we experience a surge of 3/2 transfers during the next two years.
Of courses, future freshmen will always have the option of applying to Penn State undergraduate engineering programs as transfer students, after taking introductory calculus, chemistry and physics at Millersville.
