How to Read the Continuing Education Pay Chart
Please note that Continuing education (CE) pay is based on rank/step and enrollment.

  •  Make sure you are looking at the appropriate area of the chart (i.e. if you are teaching an undergraduate course, you will look at the top area of the chart).
  •  On the left side of the chart, locate your current rank/step (column S); then look for your maximum salary for 3 credits (column X).  This is the most you can make teaching a three-credit course via the CE pay scale.
  •  On the right side of the chart, locate the number of students you have in your course (column A).  Look across to the associated gross salary for 3 credits (column I).  This is the amount you will be paid for the course unless it exceeds your maximum (from the left side of the chart).

 Here's an example:

Professor Jones is rank/step of 1-09.  His maximum salary for his 3 credit undergraduate course is $6,003.  His salary cannot exceed that number no matter how many students he has in his class.  He is teaching a course with an enrollment of 18.  Although the gross salary for the course is $10,613, he has already reached his maximum salary of $6,003 with 10 students.  If he had an enrollment of 9, his salary would be $5,427.
