Dr. Luek has been an inspirational educator at Millersville for nearly 39 years. Beyond her exemplary instruction in the classroom, she has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to student learning through her role as an advisor to students and campus organizations. Widely admired by students, alumni, and colleagues, Dr. Luek is held in high esteem for the positive impact she has made through teaching and advising. 

Dr. Luek spent both her undergraduate and graduate school years at the University of Delaware. While at UD, she obtained both her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in general experimental psychology. Her areas of specialization include physiological psychology, human and animal learning, memory, animal behavior, health psychology, and sleep. These areas provide the foundation for her research interests in mnemonics in children and adults, external determinations of blood pressure fluctuation, aspects of critical thinking, and the human-animal bond.

The courses Dr. Luek regularly teaches include: General Psychology (PSYC 100), Learning & Motivation (PSYC 316), Physiological Psychology (PSYC 415), and Graduate Physiological Psychology (PSYC 515). She has also taught Senior Seminar (PSYC 455) and Recent Developments in Psychology (PSYC 505). Her current and recent additional responsibilities include serving as the Psychology Club and Psi Chi Faculty Advisor, Faculty Senator (17+ years), Chairperson of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, Chairperson of Undergraduate Awards, and the faculty member in charge of the animal lab. Dr. Luek's involvement at Millersville goes beyond the Psychology Department. She has also been involved with such positions as Chairperson of MU's Commission on the Status of Women, Chairperson of the University Honors Program, Co-Founder of the Millersville Women's Center, Faculty Advisor to Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Lambda Theta Honor Societies, and vice president of the MEDAL Board of Directors.

Outside academia, Dr. Luek enjoys the company of her cat, ruining her knees with high-impact aerobic exercise, and growing anything that has leaves, flowers, or both.
