Susquehanna Bank Summer Nonprofit Internship Award

Susquehanna Bank Summer Nonprofit Internship Award

Sarah Kownacki

As Keystone Trails Association's first intern, we're figuring this out as we go, forging a mutually beneficial relationship. As the intern for a non-profit, I'm doing a lot of promotion and outreach for our events. We promote trail care and outdoor recreation, so that's my target market. Recently, I've also been working on press releases and grant proposals. This internship has been a great way to build connections within the environmental community: I've met key people within DCNR, the Audubon Society, Appalachian Trail Society, and many more organizations. With degrees in both chemistry and geography, I hope to get out in the field and save the environment. I've learned that this isn't a linear process--there are many things that need done! This internship is helping me not only get a first-hand look at what certain organizations do, but it's also guiding my job search to where I want to end up.
