Become a Community Fellow
Experiential Learning and Career Management (ELCM) is pleased to offer you the opportunity to apply for scholarship monies for the 2013-2014 school year. The AmeriCorps Education Awards are sponsored by Pennsylvania Campus Compact and Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development through PennSERVE: The Governor's Office of Citizen Service.
AmeriCorps Community Fellows/Scholars in Service will provide 300 or 450 hours of direct service to to K-12 at-risk students in the form of mentoring and academic support service during the 2013-2014 academic year.
ELCM is currently accepting applications for a total of ten (10) AmeriCorps Community Fellows/Scholars in Service volunteers:
6 Community Fellows to complete 300 hours for an AmeriCorps education award of $1,175
4 Community Fellows to complete 450 hours for an AmeriCorps education award of $1,468
To qualify you must:
· Complete the Application by April 12, 2013 (deadline extended to April 30)
· Be a full-time undergraduate student
· Have a GPA of 2.0 or greater
If selected, Community Fellows must successfully complete an FBI Background Check, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Registry Check, Childline Child Abuse Clearance, and National Sex Offender Registry Search. ELCM will assist with this process. Fellows will also participate in national days of service such as Day or Caring, Into the Streets and National Volunteer Week
Community Fellows must complete a minimum of 300 or 450 hours of mentoring and academic support service to K-12 at-risk students by August 19, 2014. The education award is received upon the successful completion of the required hours.
