Admission's Merit Scholarships

Scholarships for incoming freshman students are offered through Millersville University's Admissions Office and are based on merit. It is important to remember the following:

    • Recipients are selected based on their academic performance (merit)
    • No Application is required
    • Students who qualify for Admissions Scholarships are placed in a pool and will be selected from that pool based on their qualifications

Below you will find the different types of Merit Scholarships awarded by Admissions. Remember, that you do not have to complete an application to be considered for any of the below scholarships. When you apply to the university, you are placed into a pool and scholarship recipients are selected from that pool based on their qualifications. Awards are given to the highest qualified students first. If you have been selected to receive an award you will be notified by the Admissions Office.

Board of Governors Scholarship

    • Awarded for 8 consecutive semesters
    • GPA criteria: after 2 payments GPA must be a 2.5, after 4 payments GPA must be a 2.75, after 6 payments GPA must be a 3.0
    • Awarded to an incoming freshmen student

Millersville University Housing Grant

    • Awarded for up to 4 consecutive semesters
    • Must maintain a 2.0 GPA each semester
    • Must be in a degree program

Reduced Tuition Eligibility for Out of State Residents

Reduced Tuition Eligibility for Out of State Residents

High Achievers Tier 1

    • Out-of-state tuition reduced by approximately $5000 per year.
    • Required minimum 1200 on the redesigned SAT* or a 26 ACT.
    • OR cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale.
    • Maintain good academic standing to keep the reduced rate.

High Achievers Tier 2

    • Out-of-state tuition reduced by approximately $3000 per year.
    • Required minimum 1000 on the redesigned SAT* or a 21 ACT.
    • OR cumulative high school GPA of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.
    • Maintain good academic standing to keep the reduced rate. 

Transfers

    • Out of state tuition reduced by approximately $3,000 per year.
    • Required minimum of 12 transferable credits and a 3.5 overall GPA upon entry to Millersville.
    • A final college transcript is required to receive the reduction.
    • Maintain good academic standing to keep the reduced rate (for a maximum of 6 semesters).

*Students who wish to qualify for Millersville’s out-of-state tuition reduction program may do so either with a SAT score on the new, redesigned test, or a score on the old SAT which is equivalent to the redesigned SAT based on the concordance table provided by College Board.

**If you qualify for an out-of-state tuition waiver, it is important to understand that this will not appear as an award on your Financial Aid Award Letter; instead, when you receive your tuition bill the reduction will have already been applied.
