Federal Direct Loan MPN

Master Promissory Note (MPN)

The Federal Direct Student Loan is a guaranteed student loan (in the student's name).  In order to obtain the Federal Direct Stafford Loan, all first-time borrowers must complete the Federal Direct Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN).  This note is valid for a period of 10 years. The Master Promissory Note must be completed by the student (not the parents).

It is Federal Regulation that Entrance Counseling and the MPN must be completed so that the student understands the terms of his/her loan and repayment. Until these steps are completed, you will not receive any Federal Loans.
