Robert Alexander
Bob Alexander is a Consultant with the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN),in Harrisburg. Prior to his employment with PaTTAN, Bob served as an English Language Arts Consultant with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) in Raleigh, NC. In addition, during 20-year tenure in the classroom, Bob was as an English teacher and coach, department chair, and Leadership Team member at J. H. Rose High School in Greenville, NC, teaching all grades and all levels of English and English electives. He also completed a National Board Certification in Adolescent and Young Adult English Language Arts in November, 2000. A journeyman educator and student, Bob Alexander has instructed courses at Pitt, Beaufort, and Edgecombe Community Colleges in North Carolina, and he has also worked as an adjunct at East Carolina University. In addition, he is a member of the National Paideia Faculty representing the National Paideia Center in Chapel Hill, NC. A life-long learner, teacher, and coach, Bob describes himself as "…a humble servant of the people of Pennsylvania.”
Oliver Dreon
Oliver Dreon, Ph.D., has been an assistant professor at Millersville University since 2007. At Millersville, he works with preservice and practicing teachers at all grade levels. His teaching duties mainly focus on areas related to instructional technology and science education. He has taught elementary science methods courses, instructional technology for elementary educators and an issues course for secondary science education majors. In addition to these courses, he has developed workshops for using Web 2.0 tools and digital storytelling in K-12 classrooms.
His research interests include developing best practices for instructional technology and study identity development of new science teachers. Overall, however, his common strand is an interest in understanding how different learning communities develop and what tools help to foster collaboration and communication amongst group members.
