PLEASE NOTE: An MAT test score is not required for application to the following Millersville University master's degree programs -- Nursing, Mathematics, and Early Childhood Education.
Some Millersville University master's degree programs exempt applicants from the MAT requirement if the applicant has earned a specific cumulative grade point average (gpa):
Social Work (MSW) - 2.8 or higher cumulative gpa, from ALL course work completed, including transfer
Emergency Management (MSEM) - 2.75 or higher cumulative gpa
Language & Literacy, Technology Education, Integrated Scientific Applications (MSISA) - 3.0 or higher cumulative gpa
All applicants with earned master's degrees are exempt from the MAT requirement.
General Information
The MAT is a high level mental ability test requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies. It consists of 120 partial analogies that are completed in 60 minutes. The MAT is intended to measure the ability to recognize relationships between ideas, fluency in the English language, and general knowledge of the humanities, natural sciences, mathematics, and social sciences. There is no foreign-language edition of the MAT. Dictionaries or any other reference aides are not permitted when taking the MAT.
The MU Test Center is a Controlled Testing Center (CTC) for Pearson, offering the computer-based MAT, by appointment only. The MAT is administered in the computer testing lab located in room 117 on the ground floor of Stayer Hall.
