MARCH is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
Colorectal cancer is cancer of the rectum or colon and is the second leading cause of cancer-related death for both men and women.  Although people over the age of 50 are at the highest risk, other risk factors for colorectal cancer include

  • growths (polyps) inside the colon
  • family history of colorectal cancer
  • smoking
  • health conditions like Crohn's Disease
  • being African-American

The good news is that you can reduce your risk by getting screened starting at the age of 50 and by getting active, eating healthy and quitting smoking.  Prevent Cancer Foundation

Colonoscopies are covered by your health plan.  Please contact your plan (telephone number on the back of your membership card) for details and possible restrictions.
