Safe Zones
Safe Zones
The Safe Zone Program at Millersville University establishes a visible network of University employees who wish to be supportive of members of the campus community who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender/transsexual, queer/questioning, intersex, or allies/androgynous/asexual (LGBTQIA).
Recognizing that LGBTQIA individuals may feel isolated or too frightened to identify their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, or to express their gender in atypical ways, this program strives to develop a supportive campus environment by improving the visibility of faculty and staff who are trained to provide resources for LGBTQIA students and employees. This program will increase the campus community's knowledge of and sensitivity to LGBTQIA issues, and will challenge homophobic and heterosexist behaviors in an educational and informative manner. It is jointly sponsored by: President's Commission on Cultural Diversity & Inclusion's LGBTQIA Committee and the Office of Social Equity & Diversity.
