Commission on Cultural Diversity and Inclusion
Excellence and Equity Award
CRITERIA
The Excellence and Equity Award will be given annually by the Millersville University Commission on Cultural Diversity and Inclusion to individuals or groups, within or outside the University community, for outstanding achievement in the promotion of excellence and equity.
The nominee(s) may be any individual, organization, group, or department of the University or community. Prospective recipients for this award may be nominated by an individual, group or organization, department of the University, or Lancaster County community.
Achievement Standards: Excellence and Equity
Awards will be given for contributions which increase equity for underrepresented persons and/or which redress historical disadvantage. Awards will be given as for contributions in the following areas, which are not exhaustive:
I. Student Learning Activities - Development of programs which enhance student's academic achievement, self-development and/or self-efficacy
II. Institutional Activities - Development of Academic Programs encouraging inclusiveness, curriculum diversity, diversity advocacy, improving campus climate for underrepresented groups, building community, and advocacy of cultural awareness.
III. Community Activities - Development of programs within the community (education, health, literacy and/or self-development), skill development, community activism and advocacy.
Nominations for the Excellence and Equity Award will be received once a year by the Office of Social Equity & Diversity in November. The awards ceremony will be held in January/February of each year. Nominations should be sent to:

Applications should include a completed nomination form with the nominees consent and documentation of contributions or activities meriting this award. This may be prepared either by the nominee or the individual preparing the nomination and should not exceed 750 words. In addition, a curriculum vitae or resume is also required.
General Guidelines:
1. Nomination is complete when all documentation is received by the deadline.
2. Incomplete nominations will not be considered.
3. No recipient will be eligible for the award in two consecutive years.
4. The Office of Social Equity & Diversity will review all nominations and forward all qualified applications to the Commission on Cultural Diversity and Inclusion for final review and recommendation.
