An Inclusion and Diversity Education Program
Building a High Performance Community is an 8-hour diversity education program designed to provide for self-exploration and a better understanding of diversity at Millersville University. The University’s vision for maximizing equity is to create a welcoming and inclusive climate is grounded in respect, nurtured by dialogue and evidenced by a pattern of civil interaction. This program is offered in response to MU’s recognition that valuing diversity is an important University issue.
This workshop is intended to be a positive learning experience. During the session you will discuss the personal dimensions of diversity that are inherent within each student, faculty and staff member on campus and participate in a variety of exercises. Lunch is provided and dress is casual.
Workshop Objectives
- To understand that valuing diversity promotes teamwork and inclusion.
- To recognize that each of us is intrinsically different, and that the resulting diversity has value both to us as individuals and as a university.
- To understand that our individual perceptions are shaped by our life experiences and understand the ways in which they determine our behavior.
- To understand the relationship between Equal Employment Opportunities, Affirmative Action and valuing diversity.
- To understand the importance of valuing diversity as an academic strategy.
- To understand the personal responsibility necessary to be a member of an institution.
Registration
All workshops begin at 8:00 AM and end by 4:30 PM. Lunch is provided and dress is casual. Workshop sessions are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Please select and register for ONE of the following workshops by October 30, 2009.
