An Inclusion and Diversity Education Program

Building a High Performance Community is an 8-hour diversity education program designed to provide for self-exploration and a better understanding of diversity at Millersville University. The University’s vision for maximizing equity is to create a welcoming and inclusive climate is grounded in respect, nurtured by dialogue and evidenced by a pattern of civil interaction. This program is offered in response to MU’s recognition that valuing diversity is an important University issue.

This workshop is intended to be a positive learning experience. During the session you will discuss the personal dimensions of diversity that are inherent within each student, faculty and staff member on campus and participate in a variety of exercises. Lunch is provided and dress is casual.

Workshop Objectives

  1. To understand that valuing diversity promotes teamwork and inclusion.
  2. To recognize that each of us is intrinsically different, and that the resulting diversity has value both to us as individuals and as a university.
  3. To understand that our individual perceptions are shaped by our life experiences and understand the ways in which they determine our behavior.
  4. To understand the relationship between Equal Employment Opportunities, Affirmative Action and valuing diversity.
  5. To understand the importance of valuing diversity as an academic strategy.
  6. To understand the personal responsibility necessary to be a member of an institution.

Registration

All workshops begin at 8:00 AM and end by 4:30 PM.  Lunch is provided and dress is casual.  Workshop sessions are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
