Mission

Thanks to a $585,000 grant awarded to Millersville University by the National Science Foundation under the S-STEM (Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program, the university will award a number of sizable scholarships in the STEM disciplines (biology, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, mathematics or physics). The S-Stem Program will provide 28 or more scholarships over five years for students who demonstrate financial need. Selected students majoring in biology, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, mathematics or physics will each receive up to $5,000 annually.

The program objectives are to:

  1. increase the number of underrepresented STEM students,
  2. increase retention of students in STEM disciplines,
  3. improve placement of STEM graduates in jobs and professional or graduate schools, and
  4. develop a sustainable model to retain STEM majors to graduation.
