Applying for Student Teaching
How do I apply?
To apply for Student Teaching you must submit the required yellow application card available outside the Field Services Office, Stayer Hall, room 123. Please drop the application card in the wooden mailbox next to the office after completion. In the upper left hand corner of the yellow application card, under 'Semester you plan to student teach', please give the earliest, tentative semester you will be eligible to student teach. Please contact the Field Services Office if any of the requested information changes after submission.
When do I apply?
Please sign up at least 1 year prior to the semester you plan to student teach.
- Spring 2009 applicants should already have a yellow card on file in the Field Services Office.
- Planning to student teach in the Fall 2009?
- Sign up during the beginning of the Fall 2008 semester.
- Planning to student teach in Spring 2010?
- Sign up during the beginning of the Spring 2009 semester.
- Planning to student teach in Fall 2010?
- Sign up during the beginning of the Fall 2009 semester.
What happens if I am late applying?
First, please don't panic or lose sleep. Simply fill out a yellow card, but instead of putting it in the mailbox next to the door, hand it to the receptionist, explaining that it is a late submission. You will then be instructed on the method of approval.
After you apply:
Near the beginning of the semester prior to your student teaching semester, you will receive an Intent Packet with instructions to submit important forms necessary for the initiation of your student teaching placement. These forms must be returned by the requested deadline or your student teaching placement will be jeopardized. This packet will also include information about the date and time for the mandatory Orientation Night Meeting. Be sure to mark your calendar.
It is also a great idea to get in the habit of checking your Marauder email account regularly. Important announcements, reminders, your student teaching placement, etc. will be communicated via Marauder email.
What happens if I move after I turn in my Yellow Card?
Please notify us by emailing Student.Teaching@millersville.edu with your new address information. You will receive mailings from the Field Services Office so it is VERY important that we have a correct, current address on file at all times.
