The Taming of the Shrew
THE STORY
By William Shakespeare
The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare’s uproarious and unsettling comedy.
Baptista, a wealthy domineering father of two daughters, proclaims that his youngest and most desirable daughter, Bianca, may not be married until he “rids his hands” of his eldest daughter, Katharina – a notorious shrew. Bianca’s suitors are distraught realizing that no one but a fool will marry Kate. In walks Petruchio, far from foolish and flush with ego; seeing the prospects of a wealthy match for himself, he sets about to tame Kate into a “conforming wife”.
However things are not what they appear to be in Padua, Italy- neither are the people. Only one thing is sure – Love will bloom among the most unlikely of characters.
