General Information & Forms
Students can expedite their requests for tutors by completing the above forms prior to coming to the Tutoring Center. However, forms will be available on site. All requests for tutors must be made in person. Please stop by the Tutoring Center to request a tutor.
Please Note: Beginning Fall 2014, all tutors will be required to take an online Sexual Harassment Tutorial and print out a certification of completion prior to tutoring. This is a university mandate for all employees including student workers. The online tutorial can be accessed at: http://training.newmedialearning.com/pwh/millersville/. Once you have completed your online training, please print out a copy for the Tutoring Center and submit with your application to become a tutor. Please keep a copy for your records. Tutors will not be permitted to tutor without proof of completion and certification and there will be no exceptions.
Please Note: Beginning Fall 2014, all new tutors/those who have never tutored for the MU Tutoring Center will be expected to review procedures, responsibilities, payroll reporting and given an opportunity to ask questions. Tutors who have tutored 25 or more hours for the MU Tutoring Center will be required to attend Level 1 Tutor Training. Tutors are paid for the training.

Payroll Increase Criteria
To be appointed to the Level 1 Tutor Position, a student must have completed Level 1 of Tutor Training. To be appointed to a Level 2 Tutor Position, a student must have completed Level 2 of Tutor Training after becoming certified at Level 1. Please review the number of hours of tutoring required to attend each level on the International Tutor Training page. For specific details please contact the Graduate Assistants at 871-2420.
You will be paid for 15 minutes of prep time for every hour that you tutor (this time is automatically calculated by the graduate assistants, you do not need to add this time to your time sheet).
Tutors are no longer required to meet with the professor of the course prior to tutoring. However, if you do, you will be paid for 30 minutes for meeting with the tutees’ professor as long as you provide evidence and documentation of the meeting. The Tutoring Center will calculate this time for you. Do not automatically add the time when reporting your hours.
You will be paid 15 minutes if a tutee does not show up for an individual tutoring session (please do not wait longer than 15 minutes and write “no show” on your time sheet).
Group tutors will be paid for 30 minutes of prep time for a 3-hour group period. 15 minutes of prep time will be paid for 1 or 2 hour group sessions. The Tutoring Center will calculate this time for you. Do not automatically add the time when reporting your hours.
