Responsibilities

Conduct media training, act as University spokesperson when requested, editor of Exchange, Parents Newsletter, High School Newsletter.  Write and distribute news releases to the media. Provide counsel and strategy.

Biographical information

Janet Kacskos, APR, is the communications director for the university.  She has been with the University since March 2005.
 
Kacskos has over 15 years of public relations experience, serving as director of communications for Metropolitan State College of Denver for over eight years and at National University in San Diego for two years. She was also a working journalist and has worked in high tech PR, assisting Fortune 500 clients.  She brings extensive experience in the areas of media training, media relations, executive writing, communications counsel and strategy and crisis PR.
 
Kacskos has been very active in the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for many years, serving as the president of the Salt Lake City Chapter. She received the Certificate of Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) credential in 2000.
 
She is an alumna of the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and from the University of Colorado, Denver, where she received a master’s degree in communication.
