The Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) Program, in conjunction with the Millersville Univeristy Tobacco Control Program, provides prevention education programming to prevent the initiation of tobacco use on campus; provides free cessation services to students, faculty, and staff; and assists with policy development to provide a healthy campus environment.  SWAT is a student run organization providing peer to peer education.

This project is funded in part by the Health Promotion Council and the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Edward G. Rendell, Governor.

We offer a comprehensive tobacco education program for primary and secondary school aged children in Lancaster County.  We also offer an education program to Millersville University students in residence halls, for campus organizations, etc. 

The 45-60 minute presentation includes the following topics:

• How smoking effects internal health

• External effects of smoking

• Short/long term health effects

• How smoking effects social interactions

• Advertising ploys/Big Tobacco

• Second and third hand smoke

• Why people smoke

• Quitting smoking and available resources
