PIAA Coaching Requirements

The Department of Wellness and Sport Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate-level courses that satisfy the PIAA coaching requirements. This requirement states that all coaches within the PIAA member school system must complete various courses in order to be eligible or remain a coach in the PIAA.

Undergraduate Level

When completing the PIAA Coaching Requirements at the undergraduate-level, students can:

1. Concussion Training Course Requirement

  • WSSD 480: Theory and Techniques of Coaching and Sport

2. Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training Course Requirement:

  • WSSD 311: First Aid and CPR

3. Coaching Education Course Requirement:

  • WSSD 480: Theory and Techniques of Coaching and Sport

4. First Aid Course Requirement:

Graduate Level

When completing the PIAA Coaching Requirements at the graduate-level, students can:

All courses are offered fully online during Winter and Summer sessions and can be easily accessed from anywhere. Courses do not count as electives towards the M.Ed. in Sport Management master's program.
