Veterans Health and Wellness Forum

Millersville University will host the "Cost of Freedom Forum" on Veterans Day, November 11, 2015. The day-long event is free and open to the public.

Kenneth Leland will be this year's keynote speaker.  Mr. Leland will speak at several events planned throughout the day.  A Maring squad leader who was wounded twice in Vietnam, he returned to the United States to become a police officer, and later a chief of police.  He joined the Department of Agriculture before retiring and currently volunteers to speak about the Vietnam War and lessons learned from his tour of duty.  He is a recipient of the George Washington Honor Medal from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge.  Leland will discuss his volunteer work as a speaker, bringing context to an important time in America's history and assist students and the community in better understanding how the nation and world we live in came to be.

10:30 a.m. Veterans Day Ceremony: Freedom Memorial Park, Millersville- located behind John Herr's Supermarket at 9 Shertzer Lane

12:00 p.m. Presentation of the Colors by Millersville University ROTC Cadets: Student Memorial Center, Clock Tower (weather permitting)

12:15 p.m. Cost of Freedom Luncheon**- Recognition of current and past Millersville University student-veterans: Reighard Multi-purpose Room, Student Memorial Center

1:30 p.m. Open House/Tour of Veterans Resource Center: Mercer House

7:00 p.m. "Vietnam in Context: My Tour of Duty"- Kenneth Leland, USMC: Lehr Dining Room, Bolger Conference Center in Gordinier Hall

Ticket Information

All Events are free and open to the public, excluding luncheon.  Military Veterans and their families are admitted to the luncheon free of charge.  RSVP to the Office of Alumni Engagement.
