As the home of the Marauder field hockey team, Brooks Field has had a long history in Millersville athletic annals. Until Biemesderfer Field opened in 1961, Brooks Field was the home of the 'Ville football and baseball squads. And, up until 1997, it served as home to the 'Ville lacrosse team.

The University campus lake, adjacent to the field, provides a scenic backdrop for intercollegiate competition. Stands accommodating 500 spectators are located on the north side of the field. In 1998, the field was enclosed by a chain-link fence. Two years later, a new scoreboard was installed and the benches were moved to the south sideline. Improvements in recent years have resulted in a lusher and smoother grass surface conducive to better play.
