 2007-08 Men's Track & Field Outlook

The men's team placed 11th in the conference for indoor track and field after a 10th place showing in 2006. The outdoor team placed 10th last year after finishing sixth the year before.

Losing a number of key scorers in the sprints will likely mean that the team will rely on the middle distance runners and jumpers to score the bulk of the points.

Middle and Long Distance
Adam Malloy (sr. Ephrata) is expected to be a key man in the 800/1500, 4x400 and DMR.  Malloy should have his sight set on NCAA qualifying and is a returning PSAC scorer in the 800 from both indoor and outdoor season.  Andrew Butler (sr. Upper Darby) will look to establish himself as threat to score in the PSAC for any race from the 800 to 10k.

Jim Boyer (so. Mechanicsburg), Ben Brewer (sr. Ambridge Area) and Mike Terzyk (jr. Council Rock North) will all look to make their impact felt as well.  Newcomers include Matt Simkins (fr. Emmaus), Jeff Rafach (fr. Hanover Area), Zach Kelchner (Nazareth Area) and Josh Foulds (so. Mechanicsburg).

Sprints, Hurdles and Relays
Kelvin Reyes (sr. Cedar Crest), after an injury plagued year, will look to return to form that allowed him to be a PSAC scorer in 2006.  Coaches will look to Nick Sperry (so. Juniata) to provide leadership in the long hurdle races. The sprints area was hit particularly hard by graduation and will rely on a number of young athletes to step up.  Newcomers include Joe Wright (fr. Archbishop Carrol), DJ Hoffman (fr. Norristown), and Logan Langseth (fr. Hempfield).

Throws and Jumps
Jumper/Sprinter Derrick Bass (York Suburban HS), a PSAC qualifier in the long jump, 100 and 200, will be relied on quite heavily and has potential to be one of the top sprinters and jumpers in the conference.  Adam Kravatz (jr. Exeter) returns in the pole vault and will look to improve his standing on the conference level, where he was a scorer in 2006.  Lucas Nedeiderer (so. Delone Catholic) is making the transition from middle distance runner to multi-event athlete and has shown that he could develop into a PSAC scorer.  Key newcomers include Stephen Kyle Boyd (jr. Dallastown) in the jumps, Ian Clayburn (fr. Cardinal O’Hara) in the throws, Jerrell Gaver (fr. Avon Grove) in jumps and sprints, and Kevin Kelly (fr. West Chester Henderson) in the pole vault.
