Andy Young will begin his third season as head coach of the Millersville University men's and women's cross country teams when the season kicks off in September.

In his second year at the helm, the Millersville men's team improved its conference meet score by 21 points over 2006 while the women turned in their best team score since 2001.

Young also coaches the MU men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams.

Before arriving at Millersville, Young was head coach of the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. Young oversaw the revitalization of that program from 1997-2004.  His women’s teams captured three conference titles in cross country (1997, 1998, 2003) three indoor titles (1999, 2003, 2004) and two outdoor titles (2003, 2004). His men’s team won an indoor title in 2004.

In addition to his work at Long Island University, Young also worked with Locust Valley High School, Northport High School and West Islip High School, all in New York.

Young is the former treasurer for the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Track and Field Association and has served as the NCAA North East Region representative for Cross Country. Young is a certified USA T&F Level I coach and a Certified USA T&F Level II Coach for endurance.

Young has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Hartwick College and a masters in teaching physical education from Brooklyn College.
