East Stroudsburg, Pa. – The Millersville women's lacrosse team notched their first win of the season with a win over East Stroudsburg 14-8.

The win improved Millersville to1-5 overall and 1-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The loss dropped East Stroudsburg to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC.

Millersville's offensive attack was led by Amy Longenecker (jr. West Chester / Henderson ) who recorded five goals. Midfielder Ashley Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) added four goals of her own. Defenseman Elizabeth Weekley (fr. Pottstown/Pottstown) and midfielder Jackie Geiger (so. Landsdale/North Penn) each contributed with two goals. Joann Caminiti (sr. North Wales/North Penn) rounded out the scoring for the Marauders with one goal.

Millersville went into the locker room at halftime with the game tied at four. Three straight unassisted goals by Geiger, Mazzie and Longenecker just before halftime erased an early 4-1 East Stroudsburg lead.

Millersville continued to find the net in the second half recording 10 goals, five of them in the first 7:17 of the half to take a 9-4 lead. East Stroudsburg would cut the lead to three (10-7) with 15:49 remaining in the game only to see Millersville extend their lead to seven (14-7) on another scoring streak. Goals by Mazzie, Geiger and two by Longenecker over the next 11:14 proved to be too much for the Warriors.

Millersville will take the field again on Sunday, April 1 with a PSAC game at Slippery Rock.
