Bloomsburg University Women's Lacrosse Downs Millersville, 8-3

Millersville, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team scored four goals in each half to defeat Millersville University, 8-3, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Chryst Field at Biemsderfer Stadium.

Bloomsburg (6-5, 6-3 PSAC) received a game-high four points (two goals, two assists) from midfielder Megan Taylor. Attack Kelsey Quigley added two goals of her own for the Huskies. Defenders Angie Picciotti and Beth Stewart and midfielders Cali Toms and Cara McGroarty all scored one goal.

For Millersville (4-7, 4-5 PSAC), attack Amy Longenecker (jr. West Chester / Henderson ), midfielder Lindsay Toriello (fr. Glen Mills/Upper Darby) and defender Lauren Ward (jr. Springfield /Cardinal O'Hara) all scored one goal.

Picciotti opened the scoring with a goal four minutes into the game. Quigley tallied the second Bloomsburg goal with 14:20 left in the half. Twenty-five seconds later, Taylor scored her first goal of the contest. Stewart scored the half's final goal at with 4:52 to go. Picciotti assisted on the marker. The Huskies out-shot the Marauders in the half, 14-9.

Bloomsburg opened the second half with goals by Quicley and Toms to take a 6-0 lead. Millersville got on the board when Longenecker scored an unassisted goal with 17:21 remaining.

Taylor and McGroarty tallied the final Huskie goals at the 15:55 and 12:45 marks, respectively. With 3:04 left, Ward scored on a free position shot of the Marauders. Toriello scored the final goal with 11 seconds left.

In goal, Bloomsburg's Bridget Maenner made 15 saves, while Millersville's Patty Wesolek (jr. Ridley Park/Ridley) stopped nine shots.

Millersville returns to action with a PSAC game at Lock Haven on Wednesday, April 18 at 4 p.m.
