Lock Haven Women's Lacrosse Takes Out Millersville, 19-7
Lock Haven, Pa. – Lock Haven midfielder Jessica Blickenstaff recorded nine points in a 19-7 victory over the Millersville University women's lacrosse team in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game on Wednesday.
Blickenstaff recorded six goals and three assists in the victory. Midfielders Leigh Titus and Jenna Richter followed up with eight points (five goals, three assists) and five points (four goals, one assist), respectively. Attack Lindsey Rentel had three points (two goals, one assist), while fellow attack Amber Hoch had two goals.
Attack Joann Caminiti (sr. North Wales/North Penn) led Millersville with three goals. Midfielder Lindsay Toriello (fr. Glen Mills/Upper Darby) scored twice off the bench. Attacks Jackie Geiger (so. Landsdale/North Penn) and Amy Longenecker (jr. West Chester/Henderson) both had a goal. Defender Lauren Ward (jr. Springfield/Cardinal O'Hara) picked up an assist.
Caminiti gave Millersville an early 2-0 lead with goals at 27:37 and 27:21. The Lady Eagles stormed back with eight consecutive goals to take an 8-2 lead with 13:52 to play in the first half. Longenecker broke the streak with a goal at 12:08. Lock Haven increased its lead to 13-3 with five more goals. Caminiti scored the half's final goal with five second left.
Lock Haven out-scored Millersville in the second half, 6-3.
In goal, Lock Haven's Melissa Seesz made five saves, while Millersville's Patty Wesolek (jr. Ridley Park/Ridley) stopped eight. Lock Haven out-shot Millersville, 40-19.
Millersville is now 4-8 overall and 4-6 in the PSAC. Lock Haven, ranked sixth by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, is 11-2 overall with an 8-2 conference mark.
Millersville plays next on Saturday, April 21 with a home game against East Stroudsburg at 1 p.m.
