Millersville University Women's Tennis Falls in NCAA Tournament to Bloomsburg


May 3, 2007, Bloomsburg, Pa. -- The Millersville University women's tennis team had its season come to an end after a 5-0 loss to Bloomsburg University in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Huskies swept the doubles matches. Millersville's third doubles team of Jenny Habecker (so. Shillington/Governor Mifflin) and Andrea Konas (fr. Lancaster/Hempfield) lost their match, 8-6. The first team of Christy Lilli (sr. Lancaster/Cumberland Valley) and Melissa Berg (jr. Fleetwood/Fleetwood) fell, 8-4, while the second doubles team of Caiti Golden (sr. York/York Catholic) and Kari Arrants (so. North East, Md./Tome) lost, 8-2.

In singles, Habecker fell in straight sets in the fourth match, 6-0, 6-0. Lindsay Knappenberger (so. Jim Thorpe/Jim Thorpe) was defeated in the sixth singles match, 6-0, 6-2. The other four singles matches were then stopped.

Millersville ends its season with an overall record of 6-4. The Marauders placed fourth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 10th time.
