SWIMMING TEAM IMPROVES TO 2-1 WITH 119-74 VICTORY OVER LVC
December 1, 2007 – The Millersville University women’s swimming team picked up their second dual-meet victory of the season with a 119-74 win over host Lebanon Valley College Saturday afternoon in Annville, Pa.
Freestyle specialist Kara Rapp (jr. Myerstown/Lititz Christian) picked up two victories on the day in both the 100 meter freestyle (1:07.08) and 200 meter freestyle (2:20.02) events.
IM specialist Katie McDade (jr. Philadelphia/Archbiship Ryan) also picked up two wins for the Marauders. She earned a first place finish in the 400 IM (5:36.75) by nearly 13 seconds and set a new LVC pool record for the event.
Becca Laufer (so. Mountville/Hempfield) also set an LVC pool record in the 200 meter butterfly (2:40.08).
McDade was also part of the 400 meter medley relay team that finished in a time of 4:59.16, which claimed her second victory of the afternoon. Other members of the victorious 400 medley relay team included Stephanie Mouthann (fr. North Wales/North Penn), Courtney Wallace (fr. West Chester/West Chester East) and Ana Martinez (jr. Abington/Abington).
Mouthann also grabbed victory in the 200 meter backstroke finishing in a time of 2:41.61, edging out teammate Sara Keenan (fr. Secane/Ridley) who finished in a time of 2:49.10.
Other winners for the Marauders included Amy Leiphart (fr. York/William Penn) in the 800 meter freestyle (10:35.66 and Amanda Wetzler (so. Hummelstown/Elizabethtown) in the 50 meter freestyle (29.65).
The team improves to 2-1 in dual meets this season and will hit the pool again next Saturday, December 8, when they host Mansfield University for a 1:00 p.m. start.
