Millersville University Women's Volleyball Cruises to 3-0 Over Holy Family
August 28, 2007, Philadelphia – The Millersville University women's volleyball team picked up its first win of the year with a 3-0 victory over host Holy Family University in a non-conference match in Philadelphia.
The Marauders (1-4) won the three games by scores of 30-18, 30-24 and 30-22.
Outside hitters Caitlin Rinker (so. Ft. Pierce , FL / Vero Beach ) and Emily Bires (so. Lititz/Manheim Twp.) led Millersville with 11 kills and 10 kills, respectively. Outside hitter Laura Navin (jr. Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley) had a match-high 21 digs. Rinker recorded 13 digs, while defensive specialist Amanda Boger (sr. Beaver Falls/Blackhawk) had 11. Setter Meredith Sinback (so. Fairless Hills/Pennsbury) and Bires had 10 digs each. Sinback also had a match-high 29 assists.
For the Tigers (0-5), Jennifer O'Connor had a double-double with 15 kills and 18 digs. Maria Scherrer had a team-high 19 digs. Aimee Drabyn and Shannon Whalen had 19 assists and 13 assists, respectively.
Millersville's next matches will come at the Shippensburg Tournament on Friday, August 31. Millersville will take on the University of the Sciences at 2 p.m. and Limestone at 6 p.m.
