CRAIG NOTCHES DOUBLE-DOUBLE IN MU WIN OVER KUTZTOWN

Jan. 23 – The Millersville University women's basketball team won its third consecutive conference game thanks to a 65-40 victory at Kutztown on Wednesday evening.

Jenna Craig (so. Lewistown , Pa. /Lewistown Area HS) and Gladine St. Julien (jr. Leesport , Pa. /Schulykill Valley HS) led all scorers with 14 points. Both had impressive nights in terms of rebounding and free throw shooting. Craig pulled down 11 rebounds and went 6-for-6 from the foul line. St. Julien went 10-for-12 from the charity stripe and pulled down eight boards.

Rachel Weidensaul and Claire Sitarz led Shippensburg (8-10, 1-2 PSAC East) with 8 points each.

The Marauders (13-3, 3-0 PSAC East) shot 84 percent (21-for-25) from the foul line. They caused 25 turnovers, yielded just 13 and out-rebounded the Golden Bears 44-33.

Millersville trailed for just 18 seconds, the only time the team has been behind in 120 minutes against PSAC East opponents.

Mercedes Van Wagner's layup put Kutztown in front 4-2 with 18:02 left in the first half, but Aiesha Bellamy (so. Harrisburg , Pa. /Duquesne) tied the game with a jump shot at the 17:44 mark.

Millersville led for the final 33:16 after St. Julien buried a foul shot to make the score 7-6 and begin a 5-0 Marauder run. Jenna Philo (sr. Lancaster , Pa. /JP McCaskey HS) added a layup and St. Julien a jumper during the run.

 A layup by Kristin Kunzman (sr. Springfield , Va. / Cumberland College) began a 7-0 run. The streak ended with 5:23 remaining before halftime when St. Julien made two more free throws to give the Marauders their first double-digit lead.

The Golden Bears cut the MU lead to 30-26 with 15:22 to play, but a three-pointer from Ashley Moyer (so. Lebanon , Pa. /Cedar Crest HS) returned the momentum to Millersville.

The Marauders unleashed a 24-5 run that began with 11:36 to play and put them in complete control.

Ashley Romanoski (sr. Lewisberry , Pa. /Red Land HS), MU's second leading scorer, missed her second consecutive game due to injury.

Millersville will host Columbia Union on Sunday for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
