MILLERSVILLE WRESTLERS FALL AT EAST STROUDSBURG

Jan. 29 – The Millersville University wrestling team took a big lead but lost 24-19 at East Stroudsburg on Tuesday evening.

The Marauders (1-7) won four consecutive matches to build a 19-8 advantage heading into the 184-pound bout.

But the Warriors (3-8) picked up three bonus point victories – a Shane Mallory major decision, a Dave Williams pin and a forfeit at heavyweight - in the upper weight bouts to rally and win the match.

With his team trailing 8-4, Cody Becker ( Spring Grove , Pa. /Spring Grove HS) recorded a 3-1 decision over Jesse Dunn at 149 pounds to earn Millersville three points. Becker improved his individual record to 20-11 and 6-2 in dual meets.

Jarrett Hostetter ( Oxford , Pa. /Oxford HS) improved his overall record to 23-6 after beating Kyle Heselpoth 10-3 at 157 pounds, which gave MU its second lead of the night (10-8).

Dave Morey (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley HS) extended the Marauder lead by three more points with a 4-3 decision over ESU's Joe Schick at 165 pounds.

Jeremy Brooks ( Jersey Shore , Pa. /Jersey Shore HS), a 174-pounder, earned his team six points after pinning Tom Pagano in 1:22.

John Andel (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion HS) got Millersville off to a quick start by winning a 14-5 major decision in the 125-pound match, the first bout of the night.

The Marauders will next see action this Saturday when Millersville University hosts the NCAA East Region Duals at Pucillo Gymnasium beginning at 8 a.m. In addition to the Marauder competitors, wrestlers from Gardner Webb, Duquesne, Liberty and Delaware State universities will participate.
