MU'S JOHNSON FINISHES SIXTH IN PSAC 100-YARD BACKSTROKE
Feb. 23 – Sarah Johnson (sr. Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg HS) recorded the best finish out of the Millersville University swimmers who competed in Day Three of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships on Saturday.
Johnson completed the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.94, tying her for sixth place.
In other action, Becca Lauffer (so. Mountville, Pa./Hempfield HS) recorded a personal best time of 1:03.64 in the 100-yard butterfly to finish 15th .
Johnson and Lauffer teamed with Katie McDade (jr. Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan HS) and Ana Martinez (jr. Abington, Pa./Abington HS) to place ninth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 156.06.
Lauffer also teamed with Amy Leiphart (fr. York, Pa./William Penn HS), Nicole Goble (sr. Shrewberry , Pa. /Susquehannock HS) and Kara Rapp (jr. Myerstown, Pa./Lititz Christian HS) to finish the 800-yard freestyle relay in 8:26.75, good for 11th place and a 22-second improvement over their seed time.
McDade added a 16th-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.73.
The PSAC swimming championships, held at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, Pa., conclude on Sunday.
