WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SET TO HOST PSAC QUARTERFINAL MATCHUP WITH EAST STROUDSBURG
Feb. 29 – The Millersville University women’s basketball team, fresh off of clinching their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division regular season title since 2004-05, is set to host East Stroudsburg University next Tuesday, March 4 in the first round of the annual conference tournament.
The game will begin at 7 p.m.* and will be held at Pucillo Gymnasium with ticket prices set at $7 for adults, $2 for students and free admission for those with valid ID’s from a member institution.
Millersville, who will look to become just the fourth team in PSAC history to finish a season 12-0 when they face West Chester on Saturday (1 p.m. @ WCU), locked themselves into the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Division with a convincing 73-53 victory over Cheyney Wednesday evening. The win was the Marauders’ 12th in a row.
The other quarterfinal matchup in the Eastern Division will feature the third-seeded Cheyney Wolves heading to West Chester to take on the second-seeded Golden Rams.
The winners of the two games will travel to the western part of the state next weekend (Friday and Saturday, March 7 and 8) to the highest remaining seed from the Western Division. Currently, Indiana (Pa.), California (Pa.) and Clarion have clinched spots in the tournament for the West with the final spot to be determined this weekend.
The winner of the tournament is awarded with an automatic berth into the 2008 NCAA Division II National Tournament.
