MILLERSVILLE UNIVERISTY WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL GOES PERFECT AT SHIPPENSBURG TOURNAMENT
September 1, 2007, Shippensburg, Pa. – The Millersville University women's volleyball team went perfect at the Shippensburg Tournament with a pair of wins on Saturday. Millersville defeated Molloy, 3-0, and Anderson (S.C.), 3-2.
Millersville is now 5-4 overall after going 4-0 at the Shippensburg Tournament.
Against Molloy, Millersville won the match with game scores of 30-20, 30-14 and 30-22. Outside hitter Caitlin Rinker (so. Ft. Pierce, FL / Vero Beach ) recorded a double-double with 17 digs and 13 kills. Outside hitter Kathy Howard (jr. Sinking Spring/Wilson) led Millersville with 34 digs. Setter Amanda Boger (sr. Beaver Falls/Blackhawk) recorded 12 kills. Outside hitter Emily Bires (so. Lititz/Manheim Twp.) was tops on the team with 14 kills. Setter Meredith Sinback (so. Fairless Hills/Pennsbury) had a match-high 41 assists.
Against Anderson, Millersville won the match 21-30, 30-21, 30-19, 22-30 and 15-6. Sinback paced the Marauders with a triple-double. She had 30 assists, 17 digs and 11 kills. Sinback also had nine service aces. Rinker and Howard had 24 and 23 digs, respectively. Rinker had a team-high 13 kills.
Millersville hosts Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday, September 4 at 7 p.m. at Pucillo Gymnasium.
