PARKER NAMED PSAC EAST MEN'S BASKETBALL ATHLETE OF THE YEAR FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR; BATES MAKES FIRST TEAM

March 11 – Millersville University guard Charlie Parker (sr. Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale HS) has been selected as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year.

In addition, teammate Reggie Bates (jr. Chicago, Ill./Hubbard HS) was selected the All-PSAC East first team after making the second team last season.

Parker, who was named to the All-East Region First Team on Monday, has led the Marauders (20-9) into the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year with Millersville earning the East Region's No. 6 seed.

Parker averages 16.5 points (8th – PSAC) and 5.3 rebounds per game. He leads the PSAC in assist to turnover ration (+1.80) while ranking second in both assists (4.66 per game) and steals (2.69 per game).

He is 16 points away from becoming Millersville's second all-time scoring leader with his 1,913 points.  He also ranks second in MU history with 280 steals (3rd all-time – PSAC) and fourth in Millersville history in assists (444). Including this year's selection, Parker is now a four-time All-PSAC East First Team Selection.

Bates, named PSAC East Player of the Week in December after averaging 35 points in overtime wins against Edinboro and Slippery Rock, ranked second in the PSAC with 18.9 points per game. He scored the 1,000th point of his collegiate career in Millersville's key 80-67 win over Kutztown on Feb. 20.

Bates also averaged 4.9 rebounds and added 73 assists and 47 steals in 29 games.
