MILLERSVILLE SOFTBALL TEAM DROPS CONFERENCE-OPENING TWINBILL TO KUTZTOWN

March 28- The Millersville softball team dropped a pair of games to open PSAC East play Friday against visiting Kutztown. The Golden Bears won the opener 9-0 in six innings before taking the nightcap in five innings by the same score.

Kutztown (25-5, 2-0 PSAC East) benefited from four home runs in the first game, accounting for eight of the team's nine runs. Stephanie Denlinger, Krista Cameron, Maggie Reifsnyder, and Kathy Gregg all homered for the Golden Bears.

Kaitlin Arbogast limited Millersville (12-11, 0-2 PSAC East) to just one hit, a fourth-inning single by Erin Hepner ( sr. Downingtown , Pa. /Downingtown). Just three Marauders reached base.

In the second game, the Golden Bears jumped out to an early 5-0 second inning lead. Four of the runs were unearned, thanks to a two-out error. The Golden Bears put the game away with a sixth inning grand slam by Denlinger.

Hepner, Shaina Briel (jr. Pottsville , Pa. /Pottsville Area) and Alexa Ashwell (sr. Westminster , Md. / Westminster ) recorded the Marauders' three hits.

Emily Flieger (jr. Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) took the loss in the first game, falling to 5-4 on the year. Janelle Mrakovich ( jr. Middletown, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) recorded the loss in Game 2. Her record is now 5-5.

Millersville returns to action tomorrow (March 29) when the team travels to Shippensburg to take on the Red Raiders in a PSAC East doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
