MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY WINS TWO MATCHES AT DUTCH COUNTRY SPIKETACULAR

September 7, 2007 , Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville University women's volleyball team won both of its matches in the Dutch Country Spiketacular on Friday at Pucillo Gymnasium. Millersville defeated Adelphi, 3-0, and Salem International, 3-0.

With the victories, the Marauders improve their record to 8-4 overall. The team is also on an eight match winning streak.

The game scores against Adelphi were all 30-28. In the match, outside hitter Emily Bires (so. Lititz/Manheim Twp.) had a match-high 16 kills. Outside hitter Caitlin Rinker (so. Fort Pierce , FL / Vero Beach added 11 kills. Setter Meredith Sinback (so. Fairless Hills/Pennsbury) recorded 31 assists. Defensive specialist Amanda Boger (sr. Beaver Falls/Blackhawk) and Rinker tied for the team lead with eight digs each.

Millersville won the three games against Salem International with scores of 30-18, 30-20 and 30-21. Sinback had a match-high 41 assists. Middle blocker Patty Pichardo (sr. Whitehall/William Allen) led the Marauders with 13 kills. Middle blocker Alyssa Koehler (fr. Reading/Governor Mifflin) added 10 kills. Outside hitter Kathy Howard (jr. Sinking Spring/Wilson) had 11 digs, while defensive specialist Katie Mackereth (fr. Mohnton/Governor Mifflin) added 10.

Millersville will face Dowling College in the second of the Dutch Country Spiketacular on Saturday, September 8 at 2 p.m.
