MILLERSVILLE'S CLEMENS NAMED PSAC EAST PITCHER OF THE WEEK
April 21 – Millersville University pitcher Andrew Clemens (jr. York, Pa./CCBC-Essex) was named Eastern Division Pitcher of the Week by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) on Monday.
Clemens picked up two wins and two saves during the Marauders' 5-1 week, which allowed Millersville to tie West Chester for the best PSAC East league play record (10-6).
Last week, Clemens allowed no earned runs in 7.1 innings pitched. He struck out six batters and walked one.
Clemens recorded a win and a save during Tuesday's home doubleheader against Lock Haven. He pitched a scoreless seventh against the Bald Eagles to pick up the save in Game 1 (5-3 score). Clemens then started Game 2 and yielded just three hits in four innings for the victory (5-2 score).
Clemens tallied another save in Millersville's 6-4 comeback victory over Mansfield on Friday. He then picked up a win in relief during MU's 17-13, extra-inning comeback win over Mansfield on Saturday.
Clemens is the second Marauder hurler to be named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week in 2008. Brett Rhoads (sr. Landisville, Pa./Hempfield HS) won the distinction on March 4.
The Marauders (19-22, 10-6 PSAC East) have won 13 of their last 15 games. The team resumes action tomorrow (Tuesday) with a home non-conference game against Wilmington at 3 p.m.
Millersville will play a most-important four-game series against East Stroudsburg (17-24, 6-10 PSAC East) this weekend. MU will host a Friday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. before traveling to ESU for a 1 p.m. double-dip on Saturday.
