PARKER'S TEAM WINS CBI CHAMPIONSHIP
April 25 – Charlie Parker (sr. Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale HS) helped First Merit win the College Basketball Invitational championship game on Friday Night.
First Merit won its semifinal game 108-81 over Premier Pontiac before taking Louis Perry & Associates 87-72.
Parker shot 6-for-11 from the field and 3-for-4 from the foul line to finish with 15 points in the semifinal contest. Parker posted eight points, seven rebounds and three steals in the championship.
The Collegiate Basketball Invitational, held in Wadsworth , Ohio , is a major national basketball event that gathers the finest 64 senior men's basketball players from all of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and Division III and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I and Division II. Each of the eight all-star teams has eight players.
The College Basketball Invitational will conclude with an all-star game Saturday evening at 8 p.m. in front of a live, ESPNU audience. Twenty players will be selected to play in the game. It was not known as of press time which players would participate.
