WEEKLEY SETS SCORING MARK AS MARAUDERS CRUISE PAST IUP ON SENIOR DAY
April 26 – Sophomore Elizabeth Weekley (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) broke the 19-year old single-season goal scoring record as the Millersville University women’s lacrosse team cruised to a 21-10 victory Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Beimesderfer Stadium.
Weekley, who finished the season with 68 goals, scored her fifth and final goal of the game with just over 24 minutes remaining in the second half to eclipse Cherie Meiklejohn’s total of 67 goals set back in 1989.
Millersville (8-7, 7-7 PSAC) never trailed in the contest and scored 10 straight goals to open the game.
After heading into the locker room leading 12-3, the Marauders never trailed by less than nine the rest of the way.
All four Marauder seniors were recognized before the game with each of them tallying at least one goal and one assist.
Senior attack Amy Longenecker (sr. West Chester, Pa./Henderson) led the way for the Marauders as she scored a game-high six goals and also contributed a game-high five assists. Fellow senior Lauren Ward (sr. Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) scored a goal while dishing out two assists, senior attack Anna Marmer (sr.
