PENALTY STROKES HELP LEAD KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S FIELD HOCKEY PAST MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY, 3-1
September 11, 2007, Kutztown, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's field hockey team scored two goals on penalty strokes on its way to a 3-1 win over visiting Millersville in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest on Tuesday afternoon.
Kutztown (7-0, 2-0 PSAC) got goals from Kelley Healey, Jennifer Belfatti and Lyndsay Butler. Millersville (0-4, 0-3 PSAC) had a goal by forward Melissa Barto (jr. Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin).
The Golden Bears took a 1-0 advantage with their first penalty stroke. Belfatti scored the goal at the mark.
Barto knotted the game at one with an unassisted goal at 42:42. Healey scored the goal on a penalty stroke 20 minutes later to Kutztown ahead, 2-1. Butler put the game away with the final goal at 64:48. Carrie Healey picked up an assist.
In net, Kutztown's Sam Flowers stopped six shots. Millersville's Jessica Heckman (so. Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) made three saves. Kutztown out-shot Millersville, 14-11.
Millersville is back in action on Wednesday, September 12 with a non-conference game at C.W. Post at 4 p.m.
