KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY, 3-1
September 18, 2007, Kutztown, Pa. – The Kutztown University women’s volleyball defeated visiting Millersville, 3-1, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game on Tuesday night.
Kutztown won the match by game scores of 30-19, 28-30, 30-14 and 30-27. The Golden Bears improve to 11-2 overall (3-0 PSAC). Millersville is now 10-8 overall (1-2 PSAC).
Jamie Celia led the Golden Bears with 35 assists and 10 digs. Nicole Biuso recorded a match high 36 digs, while Kaitlyn Culiffe had 20 digs. Kelsey Nester pitched in with 15 digs and six blocks. Katie Miller had a match-high 17 kills.
Setter Meredith Sinback (so. Fairless Hills/Pennsbury) and outside hitter Laura Navin (jr. Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley) led the Marauders with double-doubles. Sinback had 39 assists and 21 digs. Navin recorded 17 digs and 11 kills. Outside hitter Kathy Howard (jr. Sinking Spring/Wilson) led the team with 27 digs. Outside hitters Caitlin Rinker (so. Fort Pierce, FL/Vero Beach) and Emily Bires (so. Lititz/Manheim Twp.) had 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
Millersville’s next match is a PSAC contest at East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday, September 25 at 7 p.m.
