COACHES VOTE MRAKOVICH TO ALL-REGION FIRST TEAM; HOSIER TO SECOND TEAM
May 8 – Designated player Janelle Mrakovich (jr. Middletown, Pa./Bishop McDevitt HS) and shortstop Lindsay Hosier (so. Glen Mills, Pa./Penncrest HS) were named to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II All-Region Teams on Thursday.
Mrakovich won recognition on the First Team while Hosier made the Second Team.
The honor was Mrakovich's third postseason honor in two days after yesterday being named a first-team all-conference selection and a first-team Daktronics All-Region selection.
Daktronics all-region teams are voted by sports information directors while the NFCA teams are voted on by members of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Mrakovich She led the team in batting average (.336), homeruns (6), runs batted in (37), total bases (74) and slugging percentage (.552). She also led the team in wins (10), complete games (14), innings pitched (131.2) and strikeouts (81).
Mrakovich was named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week on April 14 after posting a 2-1 record the week before. She tallied two complete-game victories while striking out 20 batters and recording a 0.35 ERA through 20 innings pitched.
Hosier batted .286 for the Marauders and was a perfect 9-for-9 in stolen base attempts. She recorded 65 putouts and recorded just four errors at shortstop while boasting fielding percentage of .970. Hosier also scored 29 runs and drove in 16.
As a team, the Marauders recorded their third straight 20-win season.
