ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL UPENDS MILLERSVILLE, 3-1
September 14, 2007, Millersville, Pa. – The Elizabethtown College women’s volleyball team defeated visiting Millersville University, 3-1, in a non-conference match on Friday night.
The game scores were: 30-15, 31-29, 27-30 and 30-21.
Elizabethtown (8-1) was led by Stacey Wasserman who recorded 53 assists and 18 digs. Ashley Whitmarsh and Kayla Deats also had double-doubles for the Blue Jays. Whitmarsh had 23 digs and 14 kills. Deats added 21 digs and 16 kills. Kelly Downs led Elizabethtown with 28 kills.
Millersville (8-7) got double-doubles from setter Meredith Sinback (so. Fairless
Hills/Pennsbury) and outside hitter Caitlin Rinker (so. Fort Pierce, FL/Vero
Beach). Sinback had 30 assists and 13 digs. Rinker recorded 17 digs and a team-high
13 kills. Outside hitter Kathy Howard (jr. Sinking Spring/Wilson) scored a match-high
30 digs. Outside hitter Laura Navin (jr. Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley) had
23 digs.
Millersville will host Cheyney University and Philadelphia University in a tri-match
on Saturday, September 15. The schedule for the day is Millersville vs. Cheyney
at 11:30 a.m., Cheyney vs. Philadelphia at 1:30 p.m. and Millersville vs. Philadelphia
at 3:30 p.m.
