BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S FIELD HOCKEY DEFEATS MILLERSVILLE, 8-2

October 3, 2007, Millersville, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's field hockey team scored five first half goals on its way to an 8-2 win over Millersville University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game on Wednesday at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

Bloomsburg, the top team in the country in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll, is 12-1 overall and 8-1 in the PSAC. Millersville has an overall record of 4-9 and a 2-7 conference mark.

Maggey Bloskey had two first half goals for the Huskies. Ashley Heckard, Jamie Vanartsdalen and Liz Macready also scored in the opening half. In the second half, Heckard and Macready both recorded their second goals of the contest. Brieann Wolfe also scored in the second half.

Forward Emily Hopkins (so. Orangeville/Benton) put Millersville on the board at 61:26 with a goal on a penalty corner. Forward Tiffani Goff (sr. New Oxford/Delone Catholic) provided the pass for Hokpins to tip-in. Forward Kristie Testa (so. Lititz/Lancaster Catholic) also got on the score sheet with a goal at 67:49. Midfielder Meredith Dolinger (so. Nottingham/Oxford) assisted on the play.

In net, Millersville's Jessica Heckman (so. Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) stopped three shots. Kristen Holden (fr. Cookstown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) came in and made one save. Bloomsburg's Allison Ziants recorded four saves to earn the win. Caitlin Koczynski and Erin McGinley also went in net, but neither one made a save.

Millersville's next game is on Tuesday, October 9 at Slippery Rock in a PSAC game at noon . The Marauders won the first meeting, 4-1, at Millersville.
