Millersville University Women's Soccer Falls to IUP, 5-1
October 4, 2007 Indiana, Pa. – The Indiana University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team scored four first half goals en route to a 5-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover win over visiting Millersville University on Thursday afternoon.
Indiana Forward Sarah Romasco scored two first half goals, as did teammate forward Melissa Kornock who also added an assist.
The Crimson Hawks jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead 9:12 into the match after quick back to back tallies by Kornock. Romasco would add another before the half to increase their lead to four (4-0) heading to the locker rooms.
The Hawks would score one more before Millersville forward Lauren Thomas (fr. White Hall , Md. /North Harford) would get the Marauders on the board with a goal in the 86 th minute.
Millersville starting goalkeeper Karrine Riggins (sr. Millersville/Penn Manor) made fives saves in the first half while replacement Rebecca Cetkowski (so. Ephrata/Ephrata) stopped six shots in the second half. Indiana goalie Kelsey Dowling stopped just one shot for the Hawks.
The loss drops the Marauders to 1-9-2 overall. The win improves Indiana ( Pa. ) to 6-4.
The Millersville University women's soccer team will be in action again this Saturday, October 6th when they travel to Kutztown for a PSAC contest beginning at 2:30 p.m.
