Millersville University Men's Soccer Notches Third Straight Conference Victory
Saturday, October 6, 2007 Kutztown , Pa. – The Millersville University men's soccer team scored three first half goals and held on to defeat host Kutztown University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
Millersville Forward Ryan Kiley(jr. Bensalem/Conwell-Egan Catholic) put the Marauders ahead just 44 seconds into the match with a goal from nearly 30 yards out. After Kutztown tied the game at one off the foot of Forward Jake Young, Millersville put themselves ahead for good with back-to-back goals before the half. Midfielders Chris Teter(jr. Lancaster/Manheim Township) and Tim Hollenback(sr. Aston/Sun Valley) each found the back of the net to create a 3-1 halftime score.
Millersville goalie Matt Langione(fr. York/Dallastown) made seven saves including a game-saving stop in the second half. Kutztown's Greg Sassaman attempted a penalty shot with just over 35 minutes to play but was denied by Langione who also stopped the ensuing rebound shot by Sassaman.
For the Marauders, the win was their third straight in the PSAC improving their overall record to 7-5-1 (6-4-1 PSAC).
The Marauders will take the field again this Wednesday, October 10 when they host Bloomsburg University at 7:30 p.m.
