MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO #1 IUP IN HOME FINALE

October 17, 2007 Millersville , Pa. – Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) forward Brittany Owens scored two goals to lead the number one team in the country over Millersville, 4-2, Wednesday afternoon at Beimesderfer stadium.

The Crimson Hawks punched home their first goal 4:21 into the contest. Forward Liz Martini scored on the awarded penalty shot to the visitors.

Millersville answered midway through the first half when forward Tiffani Goff (sr. New Oxford/Delone Catholic) scored to tie the game at one.

Owens gave the Hawks the lead again with her first goal at the 29:13 mark. She found the net again 12:14 into the second half increasing their lead to two (3-1), one the Marauders would not be able to overcome.

Millersville forward Kristie Testa (so. Lititz/Lancaster Catholic) scored late in the half to cut the Crimson Hawk lead back to one, however IUP would score their final goal with under two minutes to play to seal the game.

Marauder goalie Jessica Heckman (so. Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) made nine saves including several diving stops to keep the Marauders in the game.

IUP outshot Millersville 19-11 and held a 14-3 advantage on penalty corners.

Millersville falls to 4-13 (2-11 PSAC) overall. IUP improves to 15-2 (12-1 PSAC) on the season.

The Marauders will travel to East Stroudsburg on Saturday, October 20, for their final game of the season beginning at 1:00 p.m.
