SIX MARAUDERS SCORE A GOAL IN WIN OVER CHESTNUT HILL WOMEN'S SOCCER


October 18, 2007, Millersville, Pa.- Six different Marauders scored a goal, including two by midfielder Madison Vogel (sr. Horsham/Hatboro-Horsham), as the Millersville women’s soccer team went on to defeat visiting Chestnut Hill College on Thursday evening at Beimesderfer Stadium.


Marauder goals were scored by goalkeeper Karrine Riggins (sr. Millersville/Penn Manor), midfielder Stephanie Mellott (fr. New Cumberland/Cedar Cliff), midfielder Alison Silva (fr. Kutztown/Kutztown Area), defensive back Julie Bremhorst (sr. West Chester/Henderson), midfielder Jacqueline Iannuzzi (jr. Shrewsberry/Susquehannock) and Vogel (2).


Millersville carried a 2-0 lead into the locker rooms. 

Silva found Bremhorst for an open shot she placed into the lower right corner helping Millersville out to an early 1-0 lead 15:10 into the contest.  At the 34:40 mark, Vogel netted her first goal of the day extending the Marauder lead to two.


Millersville struck quickly in the second half, scoring on back-to-back goals under two minutes (1:31) apart.


Midfielder Lauren Thomas (fr. Whitehall,Md./North Harford) assisted Silva to increase the lead to three (3-0).  Mellott would follow with a header into the upper left corner of the goal.  She was assisted on the play by midfielder Olivia Taylor (fr. Dillsburg/Northern).


Midway through the second half Vogel found Iannuzzi , then scored her second goal eight minutes later (76:09) to give the Marauders a six goal lead.


Starting goalkeeper Riggins was replaced at halftime and moved to forward where she finished into the lower left corner for her second goal of the season.  She was replaced in goal by Vogel for a little over nine minutes (9:13).  Forward Jamie Lancaster (jr. Telford/Souderton) finished the game in goal for the Marauders.


Millersville fired 45 shots, 15 of which were saved by Chestnut Hill goalkeeper Kelly Evans. 


The win improves Millersville to 3-11-3 on the season.  The loss keeps Chestnut Hill winless at 0-13-1.


The Marauders will be back in action on Saturday, October 20, when they host California (Pa.) for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Beimesderfer Stadium.
